Bringing a new baby into your home is such a special time. A lifestyle newborn photography session is the perfect way to capture those first sweet moment with a new baby. It gives families a way to look back on this precious time with their newborn and relive those first snuggles and all the emotions and love that surround them.

The Comfort of Home: You are adjusting to a new life and baby is adjusting to his or her new home, this can be a challenging transitional time and there is certainly no need to add additional stress. A lifestyle newborn session takes place in your environment, where your family can take their shoes off, cuddle up, and be most comfortable.
2. It’s Real Life: My favorite images evoke emotion or bring you back to a special place and time where you felt love, happiness, and joy. They remind us of a fleeting time. Capturing real moments make this session so special and helps us to recall the days that pass so quickly.
3. A Flexible Schedule: Generally you hear that a newborn session should take place in the first 2 weeks after birth. However, a lifestyle session is much more flexible. I have held newborn sessions at 1 week, 3 weeks, or even 2 months. This can be really helpful for NICU babies, families that need just a little more time to adjust, or busy moms that just need a minute to get in on the calendar.

I always offer gentle posing guidance and include some more formal poses, but I love to let the session unfold naturally. Just be yourselves and all will be great! This sweet family was the perfect fit for a lifestyle newborn session. We captured their beautiful family in the home they love just being together. Mom and Dad were gentle and relaxed with big brother so that he felt comfortable, and we allowed him to set the tone for what we did next. He was excited and proud, but being a new big brother is hard work! We made sure not to make him sit still for too long. We took breaks as needed for baby and kept him comfy and warm. Finally, we made sure to capture some sweet images of him in his adorable nursery before wrapping up the session.
