One of the things I love about getting to photograph at the beach so often, is learning that no two sunsets are the same. Every evening has its own unique kind of beauty. Some windy, some calm, some cool, some hot. Some sunsets come with colors that are soft and warm, others with bright blue skies and fluffy white clouds. I used to get nervous photographing sessions at the beach, knowing that I had no control over what kind of weather or sky we would end up with. I worried that I might not be able to recreate the exact session someone had their heart set on. Then I learned to embrace the parts of beach photography that I didn’t have any control over at all. This was challenging at first for this recovering Type A Perfectionist. But oh man, once I learned this, I really fell in love with beach photography. How cool is it that every family has their own unique backdrop and a session that can’t be exactly duplicated. So amazing!
The weather this fall really threw me some curve balls. I’m used to dodging storms day after day in the summer, it’s what we know here in Florida. However, fall is typically a bit more mild and predictable. This session was one of those evenings that we almost called it due to very overcast skies and rain. We decided to go for it and I’m so glad we did! Not only did we have the beach almost all to ourselves, but it ended up being a beautiful night. It was a bit windy and a little cool but these adorable boys and their parents were such troopers! We laughed and played and put our toes in the sand. This sweet family didn’t let a few clouds ruin a great night on the beach, they let go of expectations and just enjoyed being together. I’m so thankful for sweet families like this one!
