Senior photos are such an exciting part of finishing off your time in High School. I am so excited that more and more seniors are taking the time to schedule a session that is personalized just for them! I love getting to be a part of them, and find it to be such an honor.
We all know that senior year can be extremely busy and full. Your senior photography session should be one of the most fun and least stressful parts of the year. When you work together with your photographer your session can be relaxing and fun! These Tips to Prep for your Senior Session will help to make that happen, and make it easy for you to get images that represent who you are!
Outfit Choices: Remember to BE YOU! Choose outfits that you love and feel great in. If you are comfortable and happy with what you wear, it will be easier to be yourself in front of the camera. I always suggest choosing at least 2 outfits, bringing extra choices is never a bad idea either. When you choose outfits try to select a variety of items all that fall within your personal style. Pick 1 casual outfit along with 1 more dressy. Also, bring a variety of bold colors and neutrals, or patterns and solids. Pro Tip: Before you show up to your session be sure you have tried all outfits on and feel good about how they fit. Also, make sure to steam or iron any outfits that wrinkle easily and hang everything on hangers to bring with you!
Choosing a Location: Choose fun locations that you love! The beach is always a great choice for Florida seniors. However, we have so many other options near us as well. Everything from an Urban Downtown Vibe, too beautiful trees in our local parks, and rustic locations with fields and farms. Think about what places make you happy and how to best represent who you are.
Bringing Props: Props always add a fun and personal touch to senior sessions. Some seniors choose to include their car, truck, animal, or hobbies. Also, to represent you think sports you play, instruments, favorite books, and things you like to do. It is also fun to bring your cap and gown or something to represent your next phase in life (college or military T-shirt, etc.). Fun props can even be something as simple as balloons or confetti.
Pamper Yourself: It is always nice to schedule an appointment and treat yourself to hair and make up if you can. Be sure not to try anything too different but just highlight your usual look. Professional makeup can make you look and feel great for the camera. Pro Tip: Don’t forget nails (fingers and toes). Even if its a DIY mani/pedi, just be sure to remove chipped polish as it can be super distracting in photos.
What else to Bring: Accessories are great and can be added and taken off for variety (hats, sweaters, jewelry, etc.). Bring a small bag with a water bottle, hairbrush, and makeup for touch ups. Pro Tip:Bring a close friend or family member who will be your hype man. Someone who will encourage you and make you feel comfortable or maybe even laugh a bit. But also a person who will look out for you and help with outfit changes, makeup touch ups, etc.
