Since we are blessed to live in paradise we get to spend a lot of time with our toes in the sand. But sometimes we take for granted just how beautiful our white fluffy sand and and warm blue waters really are. If your family hasn’t had a beach session, it’s time!
Honeymoon Island Beach is one of my absolute favorite places for family session photography. It is so perfect for families that live in this area as well as anyone visiting and wanting to capture a bit of your trips’ fun. The long beach is a beautiful coastline and the details of rocks, trees, and hidden walkways provide the perfect amount of variety to your session. This beautiful family rocked their sessions by exploring everything Honeymoon Island Beach had to offer.
Top Four Last Minute Hints from your Beach Photographer
So you’ve scheduled a family beach session, what is the next step? I am here to walk you through the planning, styling, and more. However, I wanted to take a minute here to highlight a few last minute thoughts that can help your session to be as fun and smooth as possible!
Consider the Weather- Helpful Items to Bring Keep in mind that the beach can be cool or windy even when we don’t feel it a few miles down the road. It is always a good idea to bring clips or hair ties to pull back long hair for those extra windy days. I love the beachy look of hair blowing in the wind but some days the wind is just extra crazy. It may also feel a few degrees cooler once we are out by the water. Layers are so pretty on the beach and can help to keep little ones happy on those cooler nights. Try to choose sweaters that go with the over all look or style you are going for. Adding a chunky sweater or lace cardigan for texture can be a great way to go!
Have fun- Let them Be Little By nature the beach encourages playfulness. The biggest suggestion I have for any type of session is to remember that as mom and dad you set the flow of how it all goes! The more fun, excited, and comfortable you are the more the rest of the family will relax too. When little ones relax and have fun we capture the most genuine smiles and sweetest loving moments.
Extra Clothes- Bring a Change in the Car For a happier car ride home its always best to bring a change of clothes for everyone. You may not leave soaked, but it’s rare that everyone leaves completely dry, especially if you are following tip #2. This will take off any pressure to keep everyone clean and dry which can definitely add stress to any beach session.
Ice Cream- A Celebratory Treat! Okay, okay… so you probably know this one already since I hear ice cream promises at most of my sessions. 😂 However, there is nothing like ice cream after watching a pretty sunset on the beach. I really can’t think of a much better night! So go ahead and get the ice cream. I can suggest great local spots close by to almost every beach I shoot on, so if you need help, I’m on it!
